I then had to wait more than the time she said to get my labs back (they were all fine). Then almost a month later I heard from my insurance the total bill was $2200. For a 30 minute exam. They were not covering all of it.
Later I got a bill from the lab for $1600.
The doctors here are good - I have always received great care and they can handle many issues. They don't send you out to specialists for every little thing like other doctors do. For example, they can give knee injections for minor arthritis - things like that. They are kind and compassionate as are their nurses. My BIG complaint is that you can't get in when you need to. Appointments are always booked at least 3-4 weeks out and if you have a bacterial infection and need antibiotics you are out of luck. You can try to do a walk-in but you will sit in the waiting room for hours and may not even get in. Also, all calls are routed to the home office receptionist and she is beyond horrible. She hardly ever answers and when she does she loses the message, hangs up on you or puts you on hold for 30 minutes. It is an absolute nightmare. This is the clinic that people have to use when they have no insurance or are on Medicaid so it is overly busy and understaffed.
You always have to speak to a switchboard and wait until they call back which is never the same day. Nursing staff UNPROFESSIONAL and not organized.
Now. I went back to the clinic to check on my bill and to give them a copy of my paycheck so that i could be in the income based billing system, and of course i got extremely sick with another respitory infection less than 72 hours later.
I made an appointment for a "lady exam". I had to wait 2 weeks to get in. I waited probably 15 minutes to go back. The nurse first took my temperature, without the little plastic sleeve protector on it. Then all she did was say sorry, in a rather non apologetic way. The doctor decided she wanted "extra labs taken" just too check my levels. These were labs that I had had done a week later for free through my work, so if she had talked to me about what she was doing I would have said no. 48 hours after the nurse screwed up I got extremely sick, some sort of respitory infection.
Now I purposely picked and discussed with the people I was talking to when making my appointment because they are supposed to be an income based clinic and I did not want to use my insurance. Not once was I ever told that THE INCOME BASED PART IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WITH ZERO INSURANCE.
WORST DOCTOR OFFICE I'VE EVER BEEN TO , THE STAFF ON THE PHONE ARE RUDE AND NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL . THEY OVER TALK YOU AND COP ATTITUDE ON THE PHONE. AND WHEN U CALL IN TO ASK ABOUT YOUR TEST RESULT YOU'LL BE WAITING 3 WEEKS FOR A ANSWER FROM A NURSE THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO THIS UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR'S OFFICE . I'LL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR'S OFFICE .
Loved it when Dr Toney was there. And now that she's gone, well, I'll just repeat my initial comment...
If you value your health and your pocketbook do NOT go here. The people are not helpful and they lie at every turn.
So now since I went to a clinic that is theoretically to help people, I'm stuck with a bill that I can in no way afford. I could have gone to several other places that would have been much cheaper. Except I was lied to at every turn so that this place could get my money.
